[10/8] Changes and other crap I did today

Updated EvilCraft to 0.61b - fixed a major crash related to the vengeance ring
Natura - Bugfixes and more
Random Things - Fixed WhiteStone, a couple other small things....
Thaumcraft - Fixed a couple bugs and a couple big crash causing issues.
Forestry - Updates, Fixes
Logistics Pipes- Fixed some broken code + a couple crash issues....

These updates aren't going live until I feel more motivated to do so. I will release them on request, but as most of my "testers" aren't capable of contributing much in the way of testing at the moment, I'm not in any hurry, and besides, been working on DipCheck and I'm grouchy anyway....

One thing to note for my testers: If you turn on Connected Textures in Optifine, you'll see crashing - this is a rendering bug from Optifine, and isn't necessary amyway. It's related to transparent blocks and confirmed crashes come from MFR and TC4.


I still need to get links for all these damn mods.... Anyone interested in helping me out?

Just to check and see who's paying attention to this:

The next tester who either sends me an email with feedback and mentions this post, or contributes in some other way WITHIN 24 hours will get their choice of:
1) One Mod added to the pack of their choice (with exceptions for balance, crashing, performance, etc)
2) One Mod removed from the pack of their choice (with exceptions for balance, function, etc)
3) One free game I have a license for.

No guarantees the mod being added won't later be cut for performance or crashing, same with mod removals. I doubt seriously many of you are reading this anyway....

One more thing - next release email I send out will require a response within 24 hours of me sending it. Seriously people, is it too hard to type "kk" and hit send, so I know you're at least glancing at the shit I work hard on and share with you?

Okay, I'm just grouching out now... Cleared out half a novel of grumpiness already.

Latest Changes

So I've updated all the mods I can, except Forestry, because Binnie's Mods relies on that version of forestry to work. I *MAY* disable Binnie's until he gets his mod up to the latest Forestry - I feel like forestry is a much more necessary mod than Binnies....

Also, created a new battlemusic pack for us.

Will be making an optional Release soon.....

Still need to remove at least one of our many transmutation mods....

Regarding Pet Mods:
Blocklings, Useful Pets, Doggy Talents, Pet Bats or maybe a couple other mods - at least 1 or 2 will be in Final Release, because I think it's nice having pets....

May check for a GolemWorld Update, see if it fixed it's crashing nonsense....

Wish list:

Dartcraft in final release. The modder is insane and funny as hell. Check out his youtube (just search for dartcraft, his name is bluedart).

UPDATED HOTFIX AND NEW EXPERIMENTAL ADD-ON

So Here's mods that will be removed from the next full release:

Alchemical Bling

This mod rewrote key potion effects mechanics causing crashing from many mods which use said mechanic. This will be removed from future releases and IT IS STRONGLY RECOMMENDED THAT YOU REMOVE IT FROM YOUR MODS FOLDER.

Milennaire

This mod has been a pain in my ass. It offers some cool features and you guys want it. It's buggy and causes lag, looping in the console. I'm removing it as it's still, in it's newest release, causing the same problems which result in performance and stability loss. I'll keep checking it for updates and when a new update is released, will test it again. It will re-appear in EXPERIMENTAL builds when there's new releases, but unless all it's big issues go away, it will not be on the server when we release it.

Release Candidates - Mods FROZEN - Fine tuning bugs, configurations, updates.
RC2 Releases - Will go on the server for testing.
Release Day - Server will be reset, everyone can play without world-resets.

TIPS AND TRICKS - Elemental Caves and Iguana's Tweaks

Iguana's Tweaks were added to the latest full release

This adds a couple new tweaks to Tinker's Construct tools.

-Stick your tool into the crafting grid with it's construction material (example, steel for a steel pickaxe) and it will repair your tool.

The tools with support for Iguana's Tweaks now level up. Each skill level adds a modifier randomly applied to the tool/weapon and +1 Modifier slot.

This means a couple things:
1. Carry around more than one pickaxe (in case you get something like smelting or silk touch on a pick and don't want to be doing that with every block.)
2. Your Tinker's Tools are even more OP. :)

Elemental Caves -
This adds some really cool crap. See this link for a feature list:

Some tricks I've tested with Elemental Caves Forest Crystal are: 1) Massive super-fast crop growth - Useful for various reasons. Be careful however in setting up a better-chests farm using these or Fertilized Dirt, because they can cause the B-Chest to tick, which sucks badly.  The Rich soil functions like Fertilized Dirt but it found in-game rather than requiring mob parts to make. :) It also grows Sugarcane and maybe cactus too...

Other notices:
You can make mob-drop crops seeds and grow them on soul sand or Rich Soil - they are combined using the mob drop  and wheat seeds (example, bones + Wheat for skeleton crops).

Just a couple tips.

About Shaders:

I'm about ready to dump support for them. They make the world look absolutely amazing, but cause all kinds of other issues- these range from massive lagspikes to black-out screens in Twilight Forest to other annoying "improvised features". I'll make them optional, but probably will no longer take them into heavy consideration when posting updates or checking for issues. Besides, most people have gutless computers and can't run them anyway....

HOTFIXES will be released silently, and will include in the main zip a list of files and it will be up to the user to perform the update.
EXPERIMENTAL PACKS will include new mods for testing, and will also be released silently.

The HOMEWORK INCENTIVE


I'll be releasing "the Homework incentive" emails when I get a chance, but to overview the process it'll be like this:

0.5 Point - Three paragraph description of a Mod in the pack
0.25 Point - Providing a Youtube Link with a Mod Sportlight
1 Point PER QUEST - Writing HQM Quests
1 Point PER POST - people interested in assisting in website or blog updates
0.25 Point PER DAY for reminding me of stuff I need to update on the site/sheet/etc.
1 GAME if you write a description for all the mods in the pack
1 GAME if you create a wiki for the modpack
10 Points if you provide (for at least 1 week, every report) /logs/latest.log, a console paste.ee link and a crash report/fml-client-latest.log as well as a detailed description of what you were doing when the issue you're reporting and you include everyone in your report
5 Points for referring me to an additional tester who's more active at reporting issues to me than you are. :)

5 Points per release (hotfix/experimental/master) for updating the spreadsheet with version numbers.

Anyone needing editing permissions will need to email me with a permissions request.

[RELEASE NEWS] The Dissonant Client 9-23-2014 "New Home Edition"

So...

Testing last minute additions (updates to reliquary and Carpenter's blocks) - Timing for load for the default client configuration is 2 minutes 41 seconds.

I'm updating the zip and will make the downloads available at downloads.dissonantdemise.org

Will still need to update data.dissonantdemise.org

Everything has a new home.

The default client includes OPTIFINE STANDARD and default resource pack, but Soartex Fanver is included.
